How much RAM does a Minecraft server for friends need?
As a starting point, use 2 GB for a Vanilla world shared by one to four players, 4 GB for a small group with light plugins, and 6 GB when the group or software needs more room. Actual use depends on view distance, world generation, plugins, mods and simultaneous players.
Can I upgrade later without losing our world?
Yes. Changing plan resizes the server resources without reinstalling it, changing its address or deleting its files.
Which Minecraft server software can we use?
